Erza Scarlet from the Anime/Manga series Fairy Tail has the magic ability “The Knight”, which allows her to instantly switch between various armors and weapons in the midst of a fight to choose one most suited for the battle situation. This highly useful ability makes her one of the strongest characters in the series. Her armors vary between being a positive example to scoring a Bingo on the Female Armor Bingo Card, so I wanted to show some of them, going from the best to the worst.

Her Adamantine Armor is known for having the best defense, even further increased by magic. Fittingly, I didn’t find a single point for the bingo. While still having a feminine touch to it, that doesn’t hinder this armor in it’s utility. If only all of her armors where as great as this one…

Armadura Fairy, supposedly one of her strongest armors still offers relatively much protection, save for that spot at her thighs.

The Heart Kreuz Armor can be considered her working clothes. She basically only fights like this if her opponent isn’t really worth using her ability to switch to a better armor. I still wanted to include it as this armor is her trademark. While not really offering any protection to her lower body, at least it’s not completely useless in a fight.

From now on it gets downhill. Her Flame Empress Armor magically increases her fire resistance. Protecting from anything else is definitely not the use of this armor.

The Heaven’s Wheel Armor looks imposing but that’s about it. A typical case of hoping to intimidate the enemy so much he won’t notice that all vital spots are completely uncovered.

The Black Wing Armor already scores pretty well on the bingo card. One might think this falls into the category of “has to be light armor to increase agility” but for that those sidepieces that hang down are just too much in the way. So the point of the armor has to be another one, but what is it? Also, I think the Mangaka liked thigh-high boots.

And now finally the jackpot: The Sea Empress Armor even gets a Bingo. Not surprising, because this armor really doesn’t offer any protection anymore, except it’s magic protection from water spells of course.

It really is a shame to see these last armors when you know the author CAN do good things.

I knew for a long time that we’ll have to have a post about Erza sooner or later, seeing how her armory is known to be all over the place – from decent, if cartoonishly exaggerated, to downright ludicrous. With the latter being the dominating theme.

Thank you  for this submission, @lightlunas. It’s very comprehensive and shows wide the range of her costumes without getting too long. If we were to post about every single “armor” she can summon, we’d probably need to devote a few weeks of bingos to it. And some, like the catgirl lingerie, are really beyond commentary.
