Pillars of Pentegarn (first published 1982, no matter what Amazon claims) is actually has two party members of different genders in essentially the same outfit – and the male character (Baltek) is the one with the incredibly form fitted armor.

It’s just a shame the female character (Lydia) didn’t really contribute much heroism wise.
