So, it seems that the costumes in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets are both not like in the original comic…

..and also nothing like the unique styles that made Luc Besson’s last big sci-fi film so visually spectacular in even it’s quiet dialog scenes. Instead they’ve opted for this weird design where it’s clear they prioritized Laureline’s boobplate and then adjusted Valerian’s outfit as a kind of weird “no sexism” approach:

It’s kind of like they were trying to one up that Mass Effect campaign, only also trying to make it look like cheap 80s children’s television.
