Battle Beyond the Stars is not, contrary to how this looks – an 80s softcore porn movie. It’s a Sci-Fi re-imagining of The Magnificent Seven (which was a Western re-imagining of The Seven Samurai) and it showed the exact wrong way to incorporate a female character as part of diversifying your cast. 

St Exmin is the only character in this movie who has a significant wardrobe change – presumably because at some point the realized that the whole Space Valkyrie look wasn’t really consistent with the dramatic tone they wanted to set.  She’s also the character who does almost nothing meaningful other than help the romantic lead to hook up with protagonist.
