Gotham Girls RPG redesign for fun 🙂 They actually make a very well-balanced team! I was originally going to do them all as knights but then saw Mindy Lee’s Poison Ivy Druid and got inspired. www.instagram.com/kelseyeng32

I love seeing women in fantasy worlds with practical and pretty outfits that fit their personalities

@bikiniarmorbattledamage I suppose you would be interested in this

Oh, we are very interested. ? I love how every gal has her own distinct style, and their armor/clothes are actually… appropriatefor their roles???? There are so many subtle details on each of the ladies, and y’all know how much I love those. I particularly like the fresh take on Harley, because just the “jester” look, separate from Harley, has kind of become boring and same-y over the years, but this version is different and fun and cool. That hat + pigtails idea is Gold.

I would play the crap out of this RPG if it existed, though there’s no healer… Would Ivy begrudgingly hand out healing potions?

Tidy Up Tuesday #97

Here’s a reminder that skimpy bikini armor is not the be all end all of sexism and double standards in character and costume design. Unchallenged uniform conformation to gender norms is a problem in of itself.

If each and every single female character in a franchise has to have at least one overt conventionally feminine feature, while male ones have a whole range of appearances, then yes, it’s still deserves to be criticized for double standards.

Also, please consult  this point in our FAQ if you question why we’re not critical only of the most egregious female character costume designs.

Guess what milestone we passed las week?

practice, by Ningbo Jiang

This is one of many “practice” pieces from this artist, and damn! That’s some good frigging practice. ? This reminds me of Evie’s armor from that one Assassin’s Creed game, but less boring to look at from a distance. (Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Evie’s default costume, but to me personally, it only gets Good when you can look at all the stitching detail up close. Is this an unpopular opinion?)

I love the textures and layering going on, and I highly recommend checking out the full-size image. The thing that drew me to this is the elegant practicality of the design. That triangle of red accents in the center of her really pulls it together. The careful choice of which colors to saturate makes the design cohesive, I think. I just really like it, okay?

armoreddragon:

My contribution to @magicmeatmarch this year! It’s a set of armor fit for a light and swift fighter. It protects the important parts while avoiding restrictions on mobility.

I’d been wanting to make a larger breatplate-type item for a while, this felt like a good excuse. I went with the overlapping plates motif that I’ve used in a number of other projects. It’s secured in place with Too Many Buckles along the sides. When it’s all tightened up it has a bit of a corset nature, straightening up your posture. Made it a bit tricky to do the over-the-top twisting-to-show-off-tits-and-butt poses. But I persevered.

The codpiece, bracers and cuisses were older designs, but it’s always good to fit them into matching outfits.

Closing the (so far) trilogy of Magic Meat March sexy armors we reblogged from armoreddragon: this very practical and light plate thing!

It reminds me a tiny bit of this atrocity from Queen’s Blade, except tailored with actually appropriate amount of supportive belts.

And I can’t imagine that if @armoreddragon’s model happened to be female that she would have to worry about her breasts flopping out, like that poor anime character.

I dunno about you guys, but no matter the gender, I have far less trouble being turned on by a skimpy armor-clad character if what they’re wearing is actually physically possible on a real human.

My redesignoriginal design

j–mno-art:

@bikiniarmorbattledamage has now done two redesigns of this version of Tira from Soul Calibur so I decided to take a stab at it. While this is my first time doing this type of redesign/paint-over I think it turned out pretty well. I decided to lean into the jester look for her clothing while also incorporating the bones from her original design. I like that she ended up looking somewhere between a jester and a witch.

This is so cool! Thank you for @-ting us!

I think it speaks both to what garbage the original is and how much lost potential Tira has that each of us came up with completely different fix for this un-costume.

Hope Icy doesn’t mind, but I think you managed to solve Tira’s wardrobe problem in the most cohesive and creative way out of us three, @j–mno-art. I really love the jester/witch look, the bone detailing, her hairstyle and the little cape.

The hair and the bone details are bomb. Personally, I still think that the Bird Connection could be expanded upon to add some texture variety with the feathers and whatnot, but that’s mostly detail stuff. She definitely looks way better than the original, now that she actually has a design, rather than just Underboob.

Maybe one day we’ll all take her Soul Calibur 6 design to the livestream, cause that “shirt”…… Yikes.
