Loool im playing vindictus.. And then this one appeared.. My character in front

From time to time, we get people insisting that there’s not wrong with an MMORPG game having… terrifying battle lingerie so long as you have an option to wear something more covering.

I sometimes wonder if those people understand that the second M in MMORPG stands for  Multi-player.

Survey Shows Even Teenage Boys Think Women Are Over-Sexualized in Video Games

themarysue:

A survey has found that most teenage boys—despite common wisdom to the contrary—don’t want women to be over-sexualized in their video games.

This survey has been doing the rounds of the media since it got featured in this little publication called Time Magazine.  For those interested in the actual research methods and data, there’s more information here at Polygon (including links to the entire presentation).  They also posted a response to all the publicity here.

All in all it’s more compelling evidence to support our stance that sex does not sell anything but sex.  This was something that was known (to his great disappointment) by one of the original market researches in the 1960s.

Creators, the truth is that are no shortcuts on the road to creative success, no matter what the creepy marketing guy or the person who won’t leave the comments section tell you.

tfw marvel wont stop hiring writers who casually slip in their shitty misogynist views to treat my fave like a joke : )

oh and also i like how they feel as if dust should be their mouthpiece for slut shaming because obviously she’s a muslim and she must be super critical and interject her views on emma and all that shit and by like i mean hate ahahahha fuck awf with all of this

I feel like the writer has a fundamental misunderstanding of Dust’s character, because she would never say something like that to Emma, or any woman. Sooraya is one of the most respectful X-Men, and she is not judgemental. This is grossly out of character.

I picked up this issue, hit the “let’s insult Emma for fun, because that’s how we show we’re awesome these days” segment, and noped right the fuck on out of there.

Poor Dust deserves better.

All my X-girls do.

Part of the problem with creators trying to pin blame for ridiculous costumes on the characters wearing them (who by definition can’t make independent choices) is that it means they need to have another character do the criticizing or ridiculing.

This puts the creator in the position of either having that character called out or endorsing really bad behavior.  Particularly if it’s a story about super heroes, heroes or other people who are supposed to be examples of morality.
