Sabine Wren

So this is the design for Sabine Wren in season three of Star Wars Rebels.

She’s Mandalorian and artsy and it shows. So far she’s had a different design in each season and this one has been easily the most protective yet. Her chest plate is larger, her sleeves look thicker and she even has a convoree design on one of her shoulderplates as a tribute to a lost comrade. And she’s only 18-19 years old and looking very strong and tough and ready for battle.

I’m sure she’ll look fantastic in the Force Arena mobile game! After all, everybody else who was translated from show to game got pretty accurate representations!

…oh.

This reminds me a lot of the story of how Lara Croft was originally going to have a modest bosom, but then the 3D modeler accidentally extended the polygons too far and was told by his boss to “just leave it like that!”

Only in this case I get the feeling they originally made the model rather true to the design, then just kept getting told “make it rounder” until they started to worry it would be too ridiculous, even for Star Wars.

If they’re going to pretend an armored plate is a sports bra the least they could do is give it some straps.

Tickled to see retro-fantasy RPG C&C inadvertently serving up a PSA on the sadly, entirely predictable consequences of adventuring in a scale bikini.

“If only they’d given her a sensible hauberk, all this could have been prevented! Why, gods? WHYYYYYY?”

(In fairness, the fact that her shield was just about to scale with her fist probably didn’t help matters.)

Having looked at Castles & Crusades catalog I am beginning to think that their art direction is very loose.  I’m not sure what the brief for this one was, “Adventurers take over Scrooge McDuck’s money bin but suffer tragedy.”

Still… it’s less confusing than this one:

Though as a side note, shields that small are usually referred to as bucklers and do have lots of practical uses – but was generally used in circumstances where you couldn’t be armored or carrying a full sized shield without video game inventory system.

So, perfect for when you’re at a party or out shopping – not so appropriate for when you’re planning to go on an adventure…

…maybe the real story here is that he found she was attacked during a party inside Scrooge McDuck’s money bin and now he just doesn’t care about anyone else who was killed.

I saw an ad on Tumblr for another battle MMO…and I was actually pleasantly surprised with most of the costume choices. While there are some ladies in impractical armor, there are also men who are clearly designed to appeal to a female audience.

I’m really not sure how long it’s going to take for the humanity to get over this idea that “MEN = MUSCLES! WOMEN=BEWBZ!” but it really can’t happen soon enough.

But, pro-tip:

Some ‘beauties’ from Game of War: Fire Age.

Male armour thrown in for comparison >_>

Also the top left one has that weird metal armour that moves with her as she breathes (And when she breathes her boobs expand)

Game of War – because why have design quality when you can just have the most expensive ad campaigns and create a game where the main source of revenue is letting the richest 1-3% bully the other players.
