For a character whose model literally has no legs (so she can’t score the ever popular High heels or Thigh-high boots squares), Morgana from League of Legends still covers a decent amount of the bingo.

Fun fact: when we were checking with Icy whether that bra should count as “How does it attach?”, we discovered that Morgana’s buttcrack isn’t all covered:

Guess she should score cleavage double.

A fallen angel who got her hands on forgotten dark magic to become more powerful. Is that what you guys get from this design? Cause I sure don’t, even though that’s Morgana’s backstory. Definitely one of the more boring designs in LoL, even among the other swimsuit models.

World of Warcraft (the Movie)

I don’t know if you’d seen these already but my eyes just rolled into the back of my head. Thanks for the crotch shot.

And of course the male equivalent is the opposite of sexualised.

Those posters sum up PERFECTLY the problem with gendered double standard in depicting fictional characters and how it traverses through various media, as an MMO gets adapted into a movie.

Everything about those characters that should be equal, isn’t: makeup, costume, posing.

@nicholaskole took notice way back of how male orcs are big and unequivocally monstrous, while female ones are just conventionally pretty ladies painted green with small fangs (and that Garona’s mixed ancestry is not given justice either). Basically this:

Also reminds me strongly of @krudman’s take on sexual dimorphism in character design.

We assure you, WoW the Movie, designing big badass orc women (and/or sexualized orc men) isn’t that hard! We have a couple examples in our orc tag.

~Ozzie

edit: A number of people have rushed to remind us that in according to the character’s particular lore, she’s a half orc.  While correct, this doesn’t address any of the key problems such as her pose and attire, that audiences unfamiliar with the lore won’t know that or that the character is essentially promoted as a sexy orc-like lady in juxtaposition to a powerful, well protected and dangerous orc man.

Knight Online is, according to its Steam page, a groundbreaking MMO about the eternal struggle between humans and orcs. WOW, much groundbreaking indeed!

About as groundbreaking as having browser ads with a lady in ridiculous boob armor with lots of exposed parts right next to a guy in a huge, intimidating and completely covering armor. No-one must have done that before!
This game so clearly is a product of unrestrained creative freedom!

Um… I guess at least they’re consistent with their shameless terribleness?

Obviously, all the effort that came into creating such original game (which was in development allegedly for a decade) will be repayed with tremendous popularity, right?

And so I saw another EOS Echo of Soul ad and it compelled me to bingo it.

image

For a moment there I confused this game for ELOA (bingo’ed last week), another very original MMO that keeps throwing browser ads at me.
Clearly that’s the mistake on my part. Those anime-sque MMOs that market themselves with double standard armor and have abbreviated titles starting with E are SO CREATIVELY DISTINCT!

Also what is wrong with how her legs are drawn? No matter which one is supposed to be attached to that knee in the front, something must be really broken in there!

~Ozzie

Remember Crowfall? Since the last time we commented on it, the game grew a few more character options. Yet so far, the Assassin remains the same aggressively uncreative mix of a Warcraft elf, Black Canary and a drow. Plus (crow?) wings, splatter eye makeup/tattoo and a boob window, cause why the hell not.
With no improvement since Februrary, I thought I’d give her a try at the bingo.

I would gladly cross out “Looks nothing like the male version of the same outfit” square just by the virtue that so far most classes archetypes were designed relatively equal, but her people cheated out of it by being a female-only society.

As for the newer classes, Crowfall continues to be an uneven mix of designs that are nicely equal…

image
image

…ones that would be equal if less focus was put on female character boobs…

image

…(also why is male ranger allowed to be middle-aged while female one’s depicted as youthful and pretty?)…

image

….and this druid class, whose gender dimorphism status is stuck in the limbo until male version is revealed.

Here’s hoping the male druid would actually match her in the “vaguely forest-themed fancy fashion supermodel” department.

And since it’s an independent project that includes crowd-funding, I encourage everyone interested in becoming a backer to bring up the feedback

regarding character designs, both positive and negative, to the crew.
