Revealed is definitely the correct verb to describe this video that shows exactly zero gameplay of the new DLC characters for Injustice 2 and only puts one of them in full lighting in the center of the shot… for some reason.

Cheetah’s appearance in Injustice 2. Why even put clothing on an animal hybrid? She’s covered in fur, what are the clothes for? Because they’re not for any purposes of breast support or protection from attacks… The “outfit” ends up calling more attention to various body parts by putting clothes on them, much in the same vein as Jack in Mass Effect 2. That loincloth especially calls a lot of attention to itself.
Also, does she apply lipstick as part of her grooming routine? What’s going on with her mouth?

Though I’ll give her that she looks rightfully upset.

Cheetah’s design changed a lot over time, though whether her spots were a costume or her own fur, she rarely wore clothes over them [image source]:

When she did, though, it was some basic minimalistic garb, not overdesigned “savage” costume with way too many “exotic” accessories over boobs and butt.

Swords of Divinity is a game by an asset flipper (actually the one featured in the video) and while they have unspectacular in pretty much everything else, they really managed to make a spectacularly bad design here.
And yes, that is an Archer with what looks like a terribly designed crossbow.

While we addressed that this amazing article’s header image references the removal of Tracer’s “look at my butt” pose from Overwatch – I wanted to illustrate how it applies to any censorship vs creative freedom “controversy”, not just Overwatch.
Here are some older “vile acts of censorship” in video games which we covered on BABD that match Point & Click’s satirical text just as much:
- R. Mika’s butt slap reframing
- Skullgirls select panty shots edited-out
- Fatal Frame’s skimpy costumes replaced for the US release
- Divinity: Original Sin’s artist asked to “self-censor” a metal bikini, GamerGate makes him their martyr saint of creativity
- Mobius Final Fantasy’s dude protagonist having his skin covered… and that’s good? (because dude)
Similarly, the older article that features a pic of R. Mika, could apply to the Overwatch butt case as well.
Hope this sufficiently summarizes how predictable and repetitive the sexualization defense rhetoric really is.

Time to bring this back, since there is currently a new ruckus in the gaming world that isn’t related to bikini armor (at least yet).

Yes, after four games of white* guys going over to take over exotic locations, and one game that sort of did that in prehistory, Far Cry has created upset by going in a new direction. (tweet) Certain people are really, really unhappy about this.

Edit: * It has been pointed out by Will113 that the protagonist of Far Cry 4 was in fact Asian, though this is easily overlooked since you rarely see more than his hands and his voice actor was American.
