Blade and Soul screenshots. :’) Boobs don’t even work like that.

Recently, I downloaded Blade and Soul, and in the Race select i was baffled by the extreme hypersexualization of the Gon race and a race solely for women, with nothing but latex outfits, short skirts, and in two words, BOOB PHYSICS.

I got so frustrated I emailed them asking, and I cant believe I had to ASK THIS, if they could stop making the females look more like sexual objects then like characters who are there, in the game, FOR BATTLE!!!

I am so frustrated I want to lay down and cry :’)

This is sadly predictable coming from the publishers of Lineage and Aion.

I had a quick look at their site and found their screenshot to promote “The Gon” race:

While the gentleman does seem to have a certain amount of empowerment, I’m kind of amazed that the lady apparently oils herself up just in case you didn’t notice how much skin she’s showing.

So, Street Fighter 5′s beta was found to have some additional costumes in it – with no official word from Capcom on whether they’re be available or not in the game.  Since they’re not even confirmed for the official game, it’s hard to tell whether they’ll be alternative costumes, unlockable rewards or scrapped before final release.

What is clear is that whoever designed Laura’s alternative outfit did so with no regard for how her body works.

There’s also (less contraversially) a police uniform (with pants!) for Chun Li (as well as a glued on version of her black dress).

(A giftset of her in action is available here)

An alternative outfit for Rainbow Mika, and I honestly have no idea what they were hoping to accomplish here (but Zangief got one as well):

And an “Officer Cammy” outfit that looks practical in front..

But of course she forgot her pants:

Since these aren’t officially released by Capcom yet, but discovered through reverse-engineering the beta, so information is very limited.  However since the models are all polished and finished, it seems clear that at some point someone thought these were a great idea at least up until the saw the final product.

I can’t believe we’re still having this conversation but if you can look at look at the number of revealing and blatantly “sexy” female armor designs, compared the the number of comparable male designs, and then honestly look me in the eye and say there isn’t a ridiculous and offensive imbalance, then your perception is skewed and frankly baffling.

and inb4 upset messages from anyone who genuinely likes the revealing female armor sets, that is literally not my point. I’m happy for you, honestly, I’m glad you have armor that you enjoy putting your character in (it must be nice). The point I’m making here is that we deserve to have choices on both sides, instead of having bare breasts, midriffs, and thighs shoved in our faces on ladies and nothing but bulky coats on dudes.

“It goes both ways” ceases to be a valid argument when there are LITERALLY five times as many sexy/revealing armor sets for women as for men.

We regularly get people pointing to Guild Wars as a positive example, and while we are happy that it does include some sensible armor for women, and doesn’t limit the cheesecake treatment to women, it still has a lot of issues.

Meg Foster’s costume weighed a reported 45 lbs., and the actress sustained bruises to her groin from the breastplate she wears throughout the film. Constructed of fiberglass, Foster has said the breastplate restricted her movements a great deal, which is why Evil-Lyn is never show sitting during the film. Foster as also said that the discomfort from the costume helped inform her performance, as the weight and design of the costume forced her to puff out her chest during every take, thus generating the character’s slinky posture.

But people assure us that designs like this are totally practical for real armor…
