Ugh. Where to begin?
Koihime Enbu is a fighting game based off of a visual novel series, and by god it shows. Aggressively generic designs left and right, same faced loli versions of historical figures like Saber was going out of style…
I wish this was an outlier
So… we should be legitimately scared that Sakura Fantasy will expand out into other genres. Presumably with the whole hearted support of those who want to decide what “is and is not a game”.

Hi there! First of all let my say that I love your tumblr :D for a whole lot of different reasons (and your bingo is LOVE). Anyways, you’re probably aware that Blade & Soul is getting a western release… D: and they’re organizing a costume design contest! So I was just wondering if maybe, you could relay this so they would receive a whole lot of sexy male armors and practical awesome female armors! :D. and maybe make them realize that something is awefully wrong with their female outfits?
Yikes, this competition is really promoting the idea that they want lots of sexy lady armor – I personally feel that it would be great if people sent them lots of submissions to suggest they should consider practical armor.
This competition does have some of the confusing terms and conditions I’ve ever read, to the extent it’s not clear who’s eligible other than people from inside the United States (some people outside the USA are too… but it’s confusing who).
So while we can’t guarantee that you’ll be eligible for a prize, we certainly encourage everyone to send them an entry featuring a woman in practical armor and a man in empowering attire.

Competition closes on July 9th and must be entered via the email on Blade and Soul’s site.

Lady Soldiers from XCOM: Enemy Within
I’ve meant for a while now to offer a writeup for the XCOM
games for a while now. My brother picked it up a couple years ago, and I
was immediately impressed with the armor designs for the women soldiers
in the game. Unlike other science-fiction based games, where skin-tight
catsuits and shorts with unzipped jackets over tube tops are considered
effective combat attire, ALL of the armor in XCOM
offers full body coverage for both male and female soldiers. I picked up
a copy from a Steam sale last week and found myself infinitely
addicted.XCOM: Enemy Unknown and its expansion Enemy Within
are turn-based sci-fi strategy games featuring excellent squad-basted
tactical combat on various urban and wooded environments. In Enemy Unknown,
players are in charge of the XCOM Project, a secret multinational
organization formed to combat an alien menace responsible for abductions
and experiments on human subjects across the globe. The Enemy Within expansion
adds a new level of story and challenge with the addition of EXALT, a
secret organization aiding the aliens and attempting to undermine the
XCOM Project. In both games, players recruit, manage, and deploy elite
special-ops units against alien invaders while studying captured alien
technology in order to better combat this unknown menace. As the game
progresses, players are able to research and create improved weapons,
armor, and facilities to better equip their soldiers. All screen captures taken from game play. XCOM was produced by 2K Games and developed by Firaxis Games and Feral Interactive.
It was particularly great since that X-Com’s original game was pretty awesome for not just female armor but also diversity in general. Soldiers were hired with randomly allocated names, nationalities, gender and stats.

I am very pleased that they have maintained this tradition – unlike some other games attempting to emulate the original.

No critique of female attire would be complete without a feature of video games most popular half-vampire Nazi killer Bloodrayne!
After all she was the first video game character to do a pinup for Playboy… with most of her costume still on. No I am not making this up. This is a real thing that happened (uncensored hi-def here).
Which was infinitely more dignified than the covers of the comics she’s in.
