All The Racy Stuff Changed For Tokyo Mirage Sessions’ Western Release

We talked about this when the game was fully announced around this time last year.  It seems that thankfully they decided to go the opposite direction to Valkyria and added shadows, costumes, etc to tone down the fan service.

Naturally brodudes are taking this well… I’m just kidding.

They’ve also been on Twitter harassing translators who do localizations (like they make creative decisions) and insisting they just want “word for word translation no matter what”

Of course, people not intent on misunderstanding the concept of localization or attacking people for doing their jobs can formulate a pretty simple theory on why this release may be slightly different.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a combination of Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei but based off the sales figures available (looking at just Japan), it only sold about 10% of what Fire Emblem Fates did (special edition literally sold out on day one) and about 12% of what Shin Megami Tensei IV did.

They’re not terrible sales, but it’s got to be a disappointing result based off the two brands involved here. It’s almost like all this over emphasis on fan service and hyper-sexualization of female characters at the expense of the rest of the product doesn’t go down well with mainstream audiences in Japan either.

So now they’re trying make into a game people won’t avoid for fear having to have an awkward talk if someone walks in while they’re playing it.

Legend of the Cryptids, a regular subject of our bingos and staple among the worst projects we keep revisiting, apparently involves characters from Les Misérables, you know, the classic historical novel

You can fight fantasy character cards with vaguely-steampunk (and/or cyberpunk?) versions of Valjean, Javert or… Fantine, including her (hypersexualized) ascended soul!
Nothing says “fighting monsters sexily” quite as much as a desperate woman suffering and dying due to the socio-economics of 19th century Paris!

Bingoed at @michiferangst‘s request. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

Found this oh so lovely set of female mage armor on Artstation. I had some time so I decided to make some fixes. They’re not amazing by any means, but at least these women can move without worry of a breeze or breaking an ankle/neck in the heat of battle.

The artist also made a set of male counterparts to these and they look nothing alike (surprise, surprise).

Here’s the link:

Very nice redesign.  Personally what I find amazing about the male counterparts is that it seems their outfits are already very unisex and would be quite flattering on many bodies:

Looking around these appear to be concepts for a new “card” game by the creators of Vindictus.  It seems, that they’ve been quite free and loose with the art direction, but apparently quite determined to maintain double standards.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Cammy Can Pull Packages Out Of Her Butt

Not sure how this would be categorized.

Atomic wedgie? I guess if you had a package in your butt, it would be the ultimate wedgie.

I suppose since Cammy wears her costume internally, that’s where she stores things >_o

While one would have figured that it was not really necessary to ask cosplayers about whether or not Cammy had room to carry packages on her person – apparently Capcom could probably have learned something.

The bright side is that at least Chun Li’s expression was appropriate in every way:
