Well, this is embarrassing

Left: Adrianne Palicki promo shot for NBC’s Wonder Woman.

Right: Kimberly Kane promo shot for ‘Wonder Woman XXX: An Axel Braun Parody’.

….is it just me or does the porno version outfit not only look WAY BETTER crafted and prettier, the actress also has more muscles, a nicer fitting chest piece and a waaay more fitting body type and skin tone.

Also the porno version doesn’t look more “feminine”/more sexy whatever.

I looked for some iteration of this post for some time now. It’s so incredible!

Second-hand embarrassment is off the charts. The jokes write themselves.

Pretty sure the difference here is that Axel Braun knows people who buy his porno want to see Wonder Woman… NBC probably figured they just wanted to see a random female character.

This week’s throwback inspired by Tumblr user @aspiringwarriorlibrarian who mentioned that Amazons in Justice League movie would look like porn parody of Wonder Woman… if the actual porn Wondy’s costume wasn’t SO MUCH more faithful to what she looks like in the comics.

Also, reminder that the last scrapped attempt at bringing Diana back to TV is the plastic tackiness on the left.

No wonder that Lindy Hemming costumes are remembered so fondly in hindsight, considering the standard for life action Wonder Woman look was set so low that “better than the never-aired NBC series, at least as good as the porn parody” was the minimal expectation.

For those people who really want to appreciate the $40-at-Party-City-ness of the costume on the left, you’re welcome:

“We thought she was dead.”

The full Talon Widowmaker painting from last month’s Patreon. Ya know, from the Legacy comic that gave her prototype armor that -made sense-.

If only she looked like that in the game!

I re-read the comic in question and beside the helmet, back armor and part of arm guards, there’s very little detail of how Widomaker’s then-costume actually looked like. So, most of the awesome stuff in this design, like the reasonable breastplate, seems to be @artbytesslyn‘s invention, not Blizzard’s.

In the official comic we can see an outline of her boob from the profile (first panel here) and what seems to be her blue cleavage (second panel), so it definitely lacks chest protection:

Ironicaly, in the story Widow is almost killed by Ana, whose bullet shatters part of this helmet…

Presumably next time Amelie shows up in the OW timeline, she changes to the cleavage-tastic clothes we love to hate

Why after nearly dying she gets a costume that’s

worse and less protective in every way? Maybe in Blizzard’s logic, just like a cocktail dress makes an espionage outfit, a deeper cleavage and new, cooler helmet makes a sniper costume?

I got an email notification from Sideshow Toys and saw this statue featured in my email. I’m just questioning how that bra stays on and doesn’t snap and how the bones aren’t piercing her skin. (I imagine they would if she were to move around.) This also feels very BABD Bingo worthy.

It always disappoints me how much detail goes into making high quality figures of such shitty character designs.
Clearly people who translated this atrocity from the comic Fathom into 3D form put a lot more thought and hard work into the toy than late Michael Turner who came up with Aspen’s appearance in the first place.

I think it’s safe to say that we’ll be revisiting at least one figure from that collection sometime soon:

Speaking of the description:

The Aspen Premium Format™ Figure stands 22” tall atop a helix of water, which swirls and swells under her command. Aspen is stepping through the surf with ease, with windswept hair and a comfortable, confident pose featuring semi-translucent legs as her aquatic abilities are at work. … Fans of the Fathom legacy will recognize Ernie the seahorse frolicking in the waves beneath her feet.

If that is indeed what the creators consider a “comfortable pose,” then they might want to consider doing professional gymnastics. But Ernie the seahorse is indeed the best part of this disaster.

Can we get a solo Ernie statue, please?
