So when a recurring character in Overwatch looks vastly different between her 3 appearances, we get told that different artists have different styles, and that Blizzard is allowed to change their character designs over time. But when Alexstrasza, queen of the dragons, gets a makeover and a pair of pants in Heroes of the Storm, there’s outrage on the forums.
This is her original WoW model:
You might notice that her clothes look a lot like Sylvanas’, even after they gave her pants. Even down to keeping the thong!
They did try to differentiate her with the leg armor and cape, but they couldn’t bring themselves to actually design her properly, despite the fact that they supposedly redesign their characters all the time. She has the exact same coverage as Sylvanas, even down to the upper arm bands. Doing a bingo on her would just be redundant!
I’ll give them props for giving her an interesting jawline, but that seems to be the extent of their creativity.
Also, is it just me, or does the jewelry she wears in her dragon form not resemble her humanoid jewelry at all? Even the rings on her horns seem to be different.
And if the answer is, that’s what she chooses to appear as when she’s not a dragon… well, we already have stuff written up about that.

I want to know what sort of stays are needed to keep that from flapping and how it won’t end up puncturing a lung. It’s beautiful and I want fiction exploring these and other questions.
I feel like maybe he has that “invisible” lycra on under it like figure-skaters are required to use to hold their bits of their costumes together.
Or maybe some form of magnets.

Okay, that is some FINE redesign of Nomad’s classic outfit into MCU costume style! @hopeless–geek has legit understanding of what were the most iconic parts of the original and translated them really well into how Marvel heroes dress in the films.
I mean, if Steve does abandon the name of Captain America in the movies, why wouldn’t he go for the empowerment of deep cleavage?
Clearly, as a character no longer aligned with his previous iconography, he totally should go just for bare skin on his chest instead of a new emblem or a blank top. It so totally worked for DC as an explanation for Power Girl’s boob window, didn’t it?
Yeah, right.

One thing that has always pissed me off in Bravely Default are the blatant double standards of job costumes. I could have gone with almost every job, but I chose to illustrate this problem with the Dark Mage one, because it’s an outfit that really striked me. Yeah, so guys like Ringabel have super cool pants, while Dark Mage girls like Edea are forced to battle in short dresses and garterbelt? Fuck that.
It’s not supposed to be an armor, but it has to protect the body, and I don’t see the point of shortening the ladies’skirts since it makes them more vulnerable- oh wait, it’s female empowerment y’all!So to correct this unfairness, I drew Ringabel with the ladies’costume, and look at how empowered he looks! ^^/

It’s always relative, but I think you managed to avoid the “it’s funny, because he looks so girly” trap of putting a male character in female-coded clothes and/or makeup.
Ringabell looks rightfully empowered, not shamed, for wearing a dress.
How do any of those outfits, including the original male one, communicate a dark magic user, though, is a mystery to me.
