So I decided to start watching claymore and

aster-the-ace:

The armor is a bit……….uh……vacuum sealed looking. I’m all for badass ladies in armor but the design is just so…wonky. Is there a reason for this??? Please tell me those breastplates are not metal because OW.

IM SCREAMING IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE MADE OUT OF METAL??????? OH MY GOD WHATS WITH ALL THE FOCUS ON THE CROTCH TOO HOW IS THIS ARMOR

…The process behind this must have literally been drawing a character naked, then erasing the nipples out and filling in with non-flesh color. Why even keep the pretense that this is armor, Claymore?! Is that even supposed to be metal? Neither metal, nor any fabric nor boobs work like that.

Imagine my complete lack of surprise to discover that this anime shares a studio with Oda Nobuna no Yabō.

Tidy Up Tuesday #32

Just a few things to tidy up this week.

We do frequently discover things that we enjoyed or looked forward to enjoying are problematic to varying degrees.  Whether it can still be enjoyed afterwards is up to individuals and circumstances though we do ask that you not feel guilty about enjoying it if you do, don’t create excuses for them or deny their problems.

If you find that you cannot enjoy it due to the problems, that’s also completely understandable and you shouldn’t feel guilty about that either.  Though depending on the options available you may consider voicing your dissatisfaction as a customer to the creators if you feel comfortable doing so (and they haven’t addressed it or improved since).

I’m starting to feel that some of those ridiculous projects are made not necessarily just to pander to cishet men, but (also?) to spite anyone who’s upset by female sexualization.

I refuse to think ALL THAT was made with zero self-awareness, only because the creators genuinely thought those miniatures were “sexy” and “cool”. No-one would go this overboard with objectifying women without knowing exactly what the reactions would be.

Also seems like Prodos Games gained some infamy amongs their Alien vs. Predator Kickstarter backers for delayed and incomplete deliveries. Funny thing how awful sexist design goes hand in hand with shitty business practices.

Commenter, David McGuire, pointed this company out a couple of months ago when the BattleSister with Anal Hook figure was featured.

As he mentioned there, the company got hammered on DakkaDakka – which means that even the infamous Warhammer 40K bros thought this was too ridiculous. Which is kind of impressive when you consider jokes about the 40K world are funny because they’re true.

Prodos were, in fact, so ridiculed they ended up making a PG-13 version.  Ridiculed by a populace who are generally comfortable with repentant warrior nuns running around in kinky leather/latex lingerie.
