Dragon Age: Inquisition – Concept Art

This has been sitting in drafts for a while, but I wanted to bring it up as a positive example due to a recent event.  Notice the armor is not definitely not perfect, and outfits vary in quality from character to character.

Bioware is not perfect with their gender equality, and were a bit slack in getting female Inquisitor (the player character in the upcoming game) art out to the fans.  However, when they did release more female Inquisitor imagery – and it was good: People got so excited they literally sent Bioware 22 dozen cupcakes.

I bring this up because we tend to get two kinds of detractors at Bikini Armor Battle Damage:

  • Those who claim that there is no issue, gender equity already exists and it’s just people complaining about things that aren’t important
  • Those who claim that our criticism is invalid because they feel that we don’t know enough about armor to say what is and isn’t really a good or bad example.

A company that is clearly not perfect but is at least trying to make women feel respected and welcome playing their game isn’t so rare and amazing that it inspired people rush out to make gifts of dozens of cupcakes in celebration

Does that sound likely to you in any world where female armor is at a point where we either don’t have to worry at all, or where we should nitpick over fine details that extensive knowledge to notice?
