I find it very worrying that while even Entertainment Weekly could appreciate the importance of Wonder Woman having a face and a cool pose, Warner Brothers apparently decided the only thing we need to know is that Gal’s outfit is basically painted on.
Honestly, DC Comics got slammed for this when it happened originally, but apparently Frank Miller’s vision is all Warner Bros care about:

The trailer is not really any better for depicting her or the other amazons either, basically all the issues from Justice League Action but with real actors:
Sure would have been nice if the costume and promotions departments for our first super heroine live action movie could have had some direction other than:

Rather than say… I dunno… look at the intro to the 2009 animated movie.

This is a cartoon for kids, why am I feeling like the costume design and story boarding was done by Frank Miller or maybe Frank Cho? WTF DC Warner Brothers!? (Video here) Also…

I can actually imagine Creepy Marketing Guy just red-lining the boobs onto this costume and the artist just copying their exact shape and location out of contempt. That’s the only explanation I’m going to accept for this particular boobplate.
Suddenly it’s very clear why the art direction and DC Comics didn’t immediately spot the obvious problems with the Wonder Woman cover having convoluted design in order to facilitate random panty flash.

Frank Cho Walks Off Wonder Woman After Sixth Cover
Frank Cho Walks Off Wonder Woman After Sixth Cover
Surprise, surprise! The guy who did the apologist “parody” of Milo Manara’s infamous ButtSpider Woman cover and who just wouldn’t back down from doing more when it kept being criticized, throws a hissy fit and leaves DC under the pretense of Greg Rucka, the writer, “censoring” a butt out of his optional Wonder Woman cover.
If there was any doubt before (and there shouldn’t), it is official that Frank Cho joins the club of professional artists who go all butt-hurt when asked to tone down a little the artwork they were payed to do (as in, to literally do their job).
People like that still getting employed is why we can’t have nice things.
~Ozzie
edit: Since it caused some confusion, for the record, this is the cover Cho claims to have been censored:

The one tumblr displayed on dashboards was an unfortunate choice as a default pic for the article.

No, but guys, picture this:
A retelling of Wonder Woman’s origin story…
…Where the reason she’s got the Bikini of Power is that the Amazons sent her out into the modern day to ‘fit in’, but they looked at pop culture and our media first and just assumed ‘really unrealistic bikini armours’ are just how our female soldiers dress.
And when Wonder Woman finds out it’s not, she goes and finds herself some pants.
…I think I’m going to write this at some point.
Now THAT is a sensible excuse to have Wonder Woman wear something as ridiculous as she usually does! Also it reminds me of her old origin story where basically it was decided she’d wear USA’s colors, so that she’ll be a better ambassador to the outside world.
I’d totally read that take on the character.
