Oglaf

YES, guys, we know of the new Oglaf comic. No need to send us more messages. We’ll be queueing it for sometime later in the coming week.

It so happens that both of us (but wincenworks especially) are big Oglaf fans, so it’s kinda ironic we tend to get lots of messages whenever a strip about sexy armor is made. Chances are, we’ve already read it, so please keep that in mind next time. Thanks for heads up, anyway!

Oglaf: Appeal to Heaven

We’ve had a few people send us messages regarding this excellent comic, and while we agree it is awesome, we’ve put off sharing it mostly due to the problem of how to present it.

For those of you who don’t know, Oglaf is not just a Not Safe For Work (NSFW) comic, it is the most NSFW comic. One of the safer pages, “Glamazon Way”, was featured on BABD in the past, but “Appeal to Heaven” is infinitely more risky.

Thus, I advise to Read More only if you are not going to be offended by sexual imagery, sexual (and potentially offensive) language and sexualized nudity.

For those interested in more Oglaf, the do have an archive page which warns which pages are reasonably safe for work – otherwise enjoy at your own risk.

Gotta say, just using a goddess of war AND sex in your worldbuilding justifies stripperiffic “armor” way better than any of the usual arguments.

I’ve been amused by the “Hot Flash Woman” sub-plot in the Between Friends newspaper comic and thought you might get some interesting material from it. This is the simplest one to just post a link to (mod note: the second one here), with two characters debating sex-appeal vs. practicality.

Thanks for submitting! 🙂 As you said, this comic sheds some light on ever-so-handwaved ’sex-appeal vs. practicality‘ dilemma in female costume design.
And, at least in my opinion, comments how internalized “I want her to look sexy and empowered!” mindset is even by female content creators.
People just tend to focus on (relative/arbitrary) visual appeal without the second thought on how the costume would affect the character within the rules of their own world. And once it’s questioned, said rules are bent with weak excuses like ’distraction bonus’.

Also, let it be a reminder that this blog is not focused solely on female armor, but on all kinds of impractical outfits for female fighters, that includes superheroes.
