Gotham Girls RPG redesign for fun šŸ™‚ They actually make a very well-balanced team! I was originally going to do them all as knights but then saw Mindy Lee’s Poison Ivy Druid and got inspired. www.instagram.com/kelseyeng32

I love seeing women in fantasy worlds with practical and pretty outfits that fit their personalities

@bikiniarmorbattledamage I suppose you would be interested in this

Oh, we are very interested. ? I love how every gal has her own distinct style, and their armor/clothes are actually… appropriatefor their roles???? There are so many subtle details on each of the ladies, and y’all know how much I love those. I particularly like the fresh take on Harley, because just theĀ ā€œjesterā€ look, separate from Harley, has kind of become boring and same-y over the years, but this version is different and fun and cool. That hat + pigtails idea is Gold.Ā

I would play the crap out of this RPG if it existed, though there’s no healer… Would Ivy begrudgingly hand out healing potions?

armoreddragon:

My contribution to @magicmeatmarch this year! It’s a set of armor fit for a light and swift fighter. It protects the important parts while avoiding restrictions on mobility.

I’d been wanting to make a larger breatplate-type item for a while, this felt like a good excuse. I went with the overlapping plates motif that I’ve used in a number of other projects. It’s secured in place with Too Many Buckles along the sides. When it’s all tightened up it has a bit of a corset nature, straightening up your posture. Made it a bit tricky to do the over-the-top twisting-to-show-off-tits-and-butt poses. But I persevered.

The codpiece, bracers and cuisses were older designs, but it’s always good to fit them into matching outfits.

Closing the (so far) trilogy of Magic Meat March sexy armors we reblogged fromĀ armoreddragon: this very practical and light plate thing!Ā

It reminds me a tiny bit of this atrocity from Queen’s Blade, except tailored with actually appropriate amount of supportive belts.Ā

And I can’t imagine that if @armoreddragon’s model happened to be female that she would have to worry about her breasts flopping out, like that poor anime character.Ā

I dunno about you guys, but no matter the gender, I have far less trouble being turned on by a skimpy armor-clad character if what they’re wearing is actually physically possible on a real human.Ā

My redesignoriginal design

j–mno-art:

@bikiniarmorbattledamage has now done two redesigns of this version of Tira from Soul Calibur so I decided to take a stab at it. While this is my first time doing this type of redesign/paint-over I think it turned out pretty well. I decided to lean into the jester look for her clothing while also incorporating the bones from her original design. I like that she ended up looking somewhere between a jester and a witch.

This is so cool! Thank you for @-ting us!Ā

I think it speaks both to what garbage the original is and how much lost potential Tira has that each of us came up with completely different fix for this un-costume.

Hope Icy doesn’t mind, but I think you managed to solve Tira’s wardrobe problem in the most cohesive and creative way out of us three, @j–mno-art. I really love the jester/witch look, the bone detailing, her hairstyle and the little cape.Ā

~OzzieĀ

The hair and the bone details are bomb. Personally, I still think that the Bird Connection could be expanded upon to add some texture variety with the feathers and whatnot, but that’s mostly detail stuff. She definitely looks way better than the original, now that she actually has a design, rather than just Underboob.

Maybe one day we’ll all take her Soul Calibur 6 design to the livestream, cause thatĀ ā€œshirtā€…… Yikes.

adobsonartworks:

In MGSV if you ogle Quiet, she ā€œposesā€ for you suggestively. In Death
Stranding if you stare at Sam’s crotch, he punches you. The framing of
both of these are bad. One is framed as a reward, the other is framed as
ā€œno homo!ā€ despite the player’s action in both being the same. I don’t
care if you worship Kojima, we REALLY need to talk about the ā€œmale gazeā€
perspective in his games, and stop giving him a pass because you love
his games.

On the one hand, I do appreciate that ogling a character who isn’t comfortable with it comes with consequences. On the other hand, I doubt there are consequences for ogling any of the ladies. I also agree with theĀ ā€œno-homoā€ and violence criticism. Are guys not allowed to sayĀ ā€œhey, could you stop staring at my crotch? It’s making me uncomfortableā€? Wincenworks, please confirm.

This really points out the big double standard in the last 2 games from Kojima, as well as most of the media we criticize on this blog: that men have agency and women are just objects meant for consumption, whether that’s for fan-service, being a plot device, or being a lamp. The two lady characters I know from the reveals from Death Stranding are named Mother and Fragile, so that’s…. not promising at all.Ā

Punching people in the face for looking at their crotch is generally frowned upon in society, as it is usually customary for the other party to demand you be removed from premises or charged, even in places which still haveĀ ā€œgay panicā€ defenses on the books.Ā (What I’m saying is this normalizes the absurd justifications cishet men use for real violence against real men-loving-men)

I’d also like to point out that while Kojima apologists are quick to blame Konami for everything from Quiet to climate change, the last time Kojima had near total creative control was Policenauts (where he famously even controlled the music queues via scripting rather than directions).

Policenauts is a game where nearly every female character’s breasts are an interactable item and the first appearance of Meryl from the Metal Gear Solid series, specifically so he could include a mini-game where she invites with her boobs if you score high enough at target practice.

Oh well, at least we’ll always have this helicopter ride.

shattered-earth:

making edits that actually reflect equality of presentation between the two byleths in fire emblem three houses because i think the official outfits are a fucking farceĀ

we could have bad bad ass f!byleth instead of dressed in the dark in a hot topic byleth jesus

@shattered-earth, who contributed some really great stuff in our redesign tagĀ (among others), never disappoints. Unlike Fire Emblem, which is always eager to indulge in blatant double standards, male-gazey female costumes and general creepyness (like the jailbait dragon).Ā

It seems like the designers thought the lack of pants between male and female version of FE Fates protagonist, Corrin, was too subtle and wentĀ ā€œHold my beer!ā€ for the next game.Ā

Glad to see @costumecommunityserviceā€˜s method of leveling the playing field in male/female design comparison employed. We just introduced a new tag for post that use it: costume gender exchange.Ā
I just wish this here dude redesign was pantless too.Ā

Throwing in original versions next to one another, for the reference.Ā

Who the hell approved that as equal? Oh wait, we know who.Ā

Cadeyrn, deuteragonist (in SR1, anyway), then recurring ā€œantagonistā€, former mercenary who put it all behind him for love.

I love it when a male character design is at the same time unironically very sexy empowered in skimpy clothes (without need of commenting on that) AND has a ton of detail put into him and his costume.Ā

He even manages to rock a mullet, of all things, probably by the power of those cute silver hair strikes šŸ˜‰Ā

tarableart:

I really hate the female Nergigante armor in MHW, so I decided to try my hand at a really quick redesign. Tried to keep it mostly close to the original, but also using the male version as the main source of changes.

The funny thing is- the skin showing isn’t even the part I hate the most. I don’t like how miss-mash the armor is. Most of the major parts of the armor look like they came from different clothing. And Nergigante is supposed to be a ferocious beast. The armor from the female set doesn’t look fierce at ALL.

Whatcha guys think?

@bikiniarmorbattledamage

While I’m usually not for overly stabby armor, this is a very fine redesign done with the original’s over the top aesthetic in mind, just without all that sexism.Ā

For the record, this is what the difference between male and female version is in the game:Ā

I really like how you retained the original’s silhouette and detailing while inserting actual armor in place of a generic bikini. And even though the armoring is based on the male version, it still has unique features, like the toothy helmet. Very good job at shape breaking and contrasts, too!Ā

Amazingly, a female costume design doesn’t have to be sexualized to be stylized. Who knew?Ā ?
