@bikiniarmorbattledamage Can I ask for your input on this… modern day wonder of the world?

My reaction to this is

This is exactly the kind of book that made me introduce the bad drawing guides tag (which is an equivalent to @eschergirls‘ How to Draw Books tag).

Somehow, this is an even uglier version of that infamous “Body shapes: men and women” chapter and those gems (content warning: extremely sexist and gender essentialist) from books by Christopher Hart (AKA the king of BAD “How to draw” books).

This artwork looks like an attempt at imitating Chris Sanders style of pinup, but with Uncanny Valley effect instead of his deep understanding of anatomy and character appeal.

Oh, the hubris it takes to draw every single female character as contorted fish-faced… thing with giant boobs and ass and then insist that it’s the only right way to design cartoony women, because females be sexy. And also that male cartoony characters should be all angular and ‘heroic’-looking, because that’s somehow inherently masculine. Then to present way more diversity among men anyway

As requested by @oldmanskeleton – Boudica from Fate Grand Order.

I’ll be real with you here. This isn’t really an armor fix. There was nothing to work with here. This is a full on redesign. I based her more on the depictions of the historical person because she looked badass.

There was nothing to work with here indeed.

Fate’s absolutely abysmal treatment of Boudica, a warrior queen from Britain’s ancient history, is the logical conclusion of pushing the “Covers only nipples and genitals on the torso” bingo square to the extreme.
The blatant disregard of how clothes (and physics) work makes me wish she just wore two pasties and a c-string, which would be more honest and realistic skimpy costume than… whatever the fuck that thing on her boobs is supposed to be.

I really love what you did with this non-costume, @enecola! Kept the only even remotely interesting part, the poofy sleeves, and put her in an actual dress, while using the original… thing’s… color scheme. Was a simple frock really too hard of an idea for the creeps behind Fate franchise

Literally the only thing even vaguely non-creepy about the original design is how she gains more (still very sexualized) clothes with level-ups, instead of losing them

Though, from where she started, there was room only for (strictly technical) progress, I suppose.

Vayla and Joan for @nightpiercer

I do love me some ladies that are dressed and ready to kick ass. Destiny (and its sequel) is a game that’s been pretty good about their armors remaining functional when a woman wears them. The class distinction here is also very clear with the designs, even if Joan didn’t have a bow out. These women are clearly armored for different purposes.

When the game first came out, I personally found their armors functional but boring from a design standpoint, but it seems they’ve been coming out with some Fun Things lately. We might talk about those sometime. ?
