The time has come!
Because Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain came out this week, we decided to celebrate by finally filling out a bingo card for Quiet, who’s been a BABD regular basically since the game was announced.
And with two bingo-scoring rows she doesn’t disappoint… in a bad way, obviously.
As we always expected, the only thing harder to take seriously than Quiet’s costume is the rhetoric behind it. You know, the über-genius explanation that was going to put non-believers to shame.
Eyup, her official in-story reasons (and the way Hideo Kojima explains them) are so absurd that we’re devoting a second bingo post to them. Stay tuned, as the next post, including wincenwork’s elaboration on the ridiculousness, comes later today!

Given Hideo Kojima’s tendency for wildly excessive verbosity in his convoluted (and sometimes self contradictory) dialogues – I’m kind of eager to see how many squares of the Rhetoric Bingo it ticks off. Will it be all of them? Only the release of the game will tell!

The thing is, we never doubted that there will be AN explanation for Quiet’s costume (Kojima claims about it wouldn’t let us forget). We just KNOW it will be… “uh, strange”, as the journalist above diplomatically puts it.
That design, as any bikini warrior garb, is simply too inherently silly to justify.

Quiet apologists have been by far the most tedious defenders of bikini armor, constantly insisting that there is some sort of great artistic genius at work behind Kojima’s design decisions. It’s always either he’s doing some sort of genius bait and switch (that’s not genius) ploy or somehow the characterization will make up for the costume or (my personal favorite) people just need to spend hundred of hours playing every MGS game to understand the twenty-four minute trailer released to the general public.
No amount of anything is ever going to make up for this, the game hasn’t even been released yet and he’s already releasing fondle dolls. Oh, and since I’ve seen lots of guy’s insisting that the Snake doll will be equally fondleable and objectified – No. No it won’t.
