I saw an ad on Tumblr for another battle MMO…and I was actually pleasantly surprised with most of the costume choices. While there are some ladies in impractical armor, there are also men who are clearly designed to appeal to a female audience.

I’m really not sure how long it’s going to take for the humanity to get over this idea that “MEN = MUSCLES! WOMEN=BEWBZ!” but it really can’t happen soon enough.
But, pro-tip:

If this is the best copy your marketing guys can come up with – get better marketing guys.

It’s not really clear what heroes defy, but so far it seems to be Blizzard’s claim that they’re trying to represent female characters better.
Honestly, with all the appeal that Heroes of the Storm has going for it, if this was the best campaign their marketing people could think up then they should probably find a new agency.

It’s kind of worrying that there’s literally a “publisher” on steam who seems to be signing on indie developers trying to get their first break in games with but only if the can put ridiculously sexualized armor on the art.

Yes, we’ve featured Storm of Spears and The Chosen before, but at least their cover art seemed to have something to do with their content – this one doesn’t even seem to have women as gladiators… just male warriors and women servant/people who agree to marry you.
Still got to have bikini armor though, otherwise how will people know it’s about gladiator stuff? Well, the good news it seems this strategy is working about as well as you’d expect… even though though they keep returning to it.

Now while it’s true that in this case, at least the male Mercenary has some empowerment, I honestly have no idea what that top is supposed to be… at all.
It’s like it’s a garment designed by someone who has never seen clothes but has heard about 90′s comic fashions.
And it doesn’t help that the marketing guys feel that the essence of an anime type MMORPG is cleavage and the occasional thigh on display.
