Kaguya-Hime

Can we talk about how the legendary Kaguya-Hime (a beautiful lunar princess from Japanese folklore) was transformed into this abomination?

I’m not really sure how those garments even work, let alone how she’s supposed to swing that mallet around – I mean c’mon, it’s a beat’em’up game, not a dating sim…  Or is it?

Since I can already hear the furious typing of people rushing to assure us that we can’t judge this because it’s Japanese and things are magically different over there, let me just point out this studio not only put their games on Steam for international market, but they started marketing games to the USA and their biggest title on Steam is…. “Mahjong Pretty Girls Battle”

Oddly the game site seems to make a big deal about her bunnies having to play games with her and protect her, but makes no mention of who glues that outfit to her every morning.  The bunnies, incidentally… look far more intimidating that the Princess herself:

Since eschergirls recently concluded the caption contest on this monstrosity of a cover, I finally remembered to attempt a Female Armor Bingo on Ember’s, uh, outfit.

And WOW, is that a texbook example of bingo breaker. Simultaneous sideboob, underboob and boob window alone make it spectacularly… creative
I also put a question sign on a few squares mainly by the virtue of the pure WTF-ness. Like… a tiny bit of her stomach gets to be covered, while the sides of her underbelly are as important to show as boobs, apparently.
Speaking of boobs, despite very obvious focus of the design on them, I couldn’t cross out boobplate either.

And yes, she actually wears that very weird type of wedge heels with a hole through them. It’s painful to look up anything regarding Ember, considering how impossible it is to take seriously the art and design of that comic.

All these stories seem to take place in alternative worlds with magic and where humanity focuses all their technological efforts into developing form fitting “armor” that shows off women’s boobs…

Why does that elf have shoulder pads on her upper arms? And how does that ring work? Can you imagine how ridiculously difficult this outfit would be to put on?

Source: IPhone game called Wakfu Raiders. It’s actually quite well drawn, if you don’t count that most female characters are shrink-wrapped into their clothes.

The panda characters’ clothing actually looks really good, and the movement in the drawing has lots of energy!

Oh Wakfu… you rascally franchise who’s supposed to be trying to market itself to people twelve years and older… please stop creeping me out and please hire new marketing people.  More of this:

Like seriously, it’s obvious that you guys are using design templates. Please just use the ones with less creepy sexualization of female characters.
