If the second panel was an official written rule* for making barbarian characters, it would explain SO MUCH about the fantasy genre. For instance, it would tell us where the people who think that a chainmail bikini is “equal” to a loincloth are coming from.
* Of course being official and written doesn’t exclude a rule from being nonetheless silly and arbitrary.
Continuing this week’s theme of discussing the hilarious notion that men are equally objectified (in a sexual way) in popular media – this worryingly accurate cartoon that sums up so many male/female sets we’ve seen.
This applies not just to fantasy barbarians, but any sort of “outside civilization” group such as post-apocalyptic raiders, for example.
