All-New Wolverine Continues Into ResurrXion With New Costume, Artist

“It all comes down to the amount of times Laura is hurt, or taken out of action. Just because she has a healing factor, doesn’t mean she enjoys pain, or bullets ripping through her internal organs. She has had her issues with pain before, and she’s moving through this. This suit is designed to be bulletproof and generally more protective.

Another step in X-23′s costume evolution is definitely appreciated, as the creators openly address that even such awesome power as healing factor is not a good excuse for an action hero to run around with deep cleavage and/or bared belly.

Also good to see Laura get some individual touches in her Wolverine-like costume. Personally, I was never sold on replicating Logan’s yellow-blue color scheme verbatim for her.

If New Exiles taught us anything, it’s that you shouldn’t design a character’s costume where it looks like you forgot to give them a bra and just scribbled on two gold discs at the last second and that you shouldn’t wait until your second last issue to break out imagery like this:

I suddenly don’t hate Hal’s Injustice costume.

網タイツ・・・!私にはこう見えますよ。

This is indisputably a far more dynamic, exciting and empowering interpretation of Green Lantern’s costume than the menu graphics in Injustice are going with:

DC Comics, Warner Bros, Netherworld Studios… I’m just saying I think you’re sitting on a potential gold mine with DLC costumes here.

Sometimes I wonder if Bluewater Comics (creators of 10th Muse) is actively trying to make their designs terrible or if they just have a complete lack of awareness on… everything.

Then I remember that they changed their name to Stormfront Comics (yes, they officially signed off on that before realizing it connected them to a certain group and changing it to “Storm Entertainment”… kind of) and think that they’re experts on “the ever-elusive female comic book demographic”.

Okay first @nebezial-asheri reincarnated Witchblade with Switch now

@warrenellis is taking the distilled essence of 90s comics (aka Wildstorm) and transform it into something I’m actually really eager to read. (article here)

What an amazing time to be alive and into comics!

Legends of Tomorrow

@whereismywizardhat submitted:

After seeing the promotional picture for the Legends of Tomorrow version of the Justice Society of America, and specifically their version of Stargirl, I opted to do a five second redesign to make the look feel… well, more like something a superpowered woman in the 1940s would wear.

My Redesign

It should be noted that Stargirl in the comics looks almost identical to the source photo, but she is also set in modern day, not 1941.

Look, I get that superhero costumes were based on the super tight outfits strongmen wore in order to show off their physique.  That does not mean when transplanting a female character to WWII you can bring her costume without baggage.

I have to say, I really like the redesign – it’s nice and conveys the spirit of the era without fussing about too much with the specifics or worrying about trying to pin down a particular moment in fashion.

As for the official image.. there’s something about the super heroine costumes I just can’t put my finger on… something to do with history.  Something the show probably should have come across while doing some research on World War Two era fashions, life and technology…

Seriously DC Comics, you should know better… not even Catwoman wore spandex in the 1940s and she was a femme fatale from word go!
