Emily Kaldwin, optional protagonist of Dishonored 2, was probably the best thing of E3 this year, certainly the best thing in terms of female costumes.

Especially since when I saw her in Dishonored she looked like this:

Full trailer is here, but be warned that it does contain some gore and outright gruesome imagery.  If you want to avoid that then skip to 0:58.

blackiochronicles submitted (and Ozzie bingo’ed):

This try-hard concept art for NCSoft’s upcoming MMO Lineage Eternal just made me laugh, and not in the good way. We’ve seen plenty of boobplate over the years, but I think this is the first time an artist literally just slapped a plate on top of a boob and called it done. Not sure how this is all supposed to hold together in the heat of battle – a lot of double-sided tape and even more fevered prayer, I suspect.

First thing I thought of when I saw this was “WTF am I even looking at?!”, second was “I NEED to bingo this!”. So I did, and wow did it score better than expected! Even without counting that boob-thingie as “boobplate”, go figure.

If you haven’t heard of Kate Beaton’s Strong Female Characters, then 1) where have you been for the last three years, poor soul? 2) please, catch up immediately (links below)!

Obviously, those two strips are the most relevant to BABD, as Georgia O’Queefe and Queen Elizatits demonstrate how skimpy outfits are so totally acceptable as long as you can argue they’re part of your cultural heritage and how you never need to worry about getting hurt, cause sexy distraction is the best protection.

One question remains… why is this supposed to be a parody? Clearly, that’s how writing empowered feminist (and totally not contrived) characters works! Best inspiration ever.

And always remember, kids:

Hark! A Vagrant – Strong Female Characters: Part 1 | Part 2

more parody | more comic strips

Lots of people are excited because Gwendoline Christie (famous for playing Brienne of Tarth) has been cast in the role of Captain Phasma. While that is awesome, personally I’m excited that this makes non-gendered imperial armor canon.

Star Wars has been pretty hit or miss in the past and I’m not making any speculations on the rest of the upcoming releases – but it appears that this is a glorious victory.
