Ghost in the Shell 1.5 – Human Error Processor
Cover art for book one.
This is painfully disappointing given that my first introduction to Ghost in the Shell (and Shirow Masamune for that matter) was the animated movie seemed to go an okay job of being sexy without distracting from it’s themes of existentialism and transhumanism.
Sure, it was questionable why the parts demanding nudity always fell to Major Kusanagi and the secondary female cast – but it was always at least in service to the narrative or the scene. Â Where as this looks like it started life as a drawing for Shirow Masamune’s ecchi posterbook series Galhound. (Though in Galhound you’ll get… exactly what the cover suggests)
Sadly with the exception of issue #8, the covers are pretty much all like this.
