Tickled to see retro-fantasy RPG C&C inadvertently serving up a PSA on the sadly, entirely predictable consequences of adventuring in a scale bikini.

“If only they’d given her a sensible hauberk, all this could have been prevented! Why, gods? WHYYYYYY?”

(In fairness, the fact that her shield was just about to scale with her fist probably didn’t help matters.)

Having looked at Castles & Crusades catalog I am beginning to think that their art direction is very loose.  I’m not sure what the brief for this one was, “Adventurers take over Scrooge McDuck’s money bin but suffer tragedy.”

Still… it’s less confusing than this one:

Though as a side note, shields that small are usually referred to as bucklers and do have lots of practical uses – but was generally used in circumstances where you couldn’t be armored or carrying a full sized shield without video game inventory system.

So, perfect for when you’re at a party or out shopping – not so appropriate for when you’re planning to go on an adventure…

…maybe the real story here is that he found she was attacked during a party inside Scrooge McDuck’s money bin and now he just doesn’t care about anyone else who was killed.

@bikiniarmorbattledamage, look at this magnificently empowered man.  He’s wearing a strategic banana-hammock, with thigh-high fishnets for leg protection!

So alluring!  So practical in battle!  SO EMPOWERED.  I don’t get why any man would complain about this!

Hentai Kamen, a superhero literally powered by the empowerment inherited from his BDSM worker mother, might be the male hero we all deserve!

One of these is from satrical RPG parody game, one is a promo for a pornographic parody and one character from an Applibot game.  Applibot claims to make “high quality fantasy” games.

When you’re more ridiculous than ridicule and more porny than porn, it’s time to reconsider your design principles and concept of “high quality”.

As a follow-up to our last video post illustrating the amazing originality of “sex sells”-based game design and marketing, this week’s throwback is the reminder that arbitrary sexualization basically serves as its own porn and parody already, defeating the purpose of the real things.

Keep in mind that, as far as we know, Applibot does commission original “sexy” artwork for their games instead of stealing and/or asset flipping existing images, yet most of their designs fit squarely into the trend of generic impossible metal bikinis (and sometimes are just outright horrific – open the link at own risk)

So yeah, while directly ripping off someone else is obviously wrong, perpetuating generic sexyness with your own stuff does no good to the industry either.
And most likely will lead to having your generic stuff stolen by the asset flippers anyway.

I saw an ad on Tumblr for another battle MMO…and I was actually pleasantly surprised with most of the costume choices. While there are some ladies in impractical armor, there are also men who are clearly designed to appeal to a female audience.

I’m really not sure how long it’s going to take for the humanity to get over this idea that “MEN = MUSCLES! WOMEN=BEWBZ!” but it really can’t happen soon enough.

But, pro-tip:

I was bored so I decided to play some Female Armor Bingo with Flip Flappers! For the last three here’s the one and only example of what the male version of the same outfit looks like.

So… everything I could find say this is a show is a sort of Magical Girl type deal and generally seems to be aimed at teenage girls and young women.

Except for various random traits like these costumes and moments like

I’m not convinced this is a great way to market to multiple demographics.

We got a few requests for us to take a look at this… and well at least they didn’t give her buttsock pants.

By itself Supergirl’s outfit in IGN’s latest Injustice 2 video is a bit of a step back but nothing immediately disastrous.  Taken in context with some other factors such as the previous outfit shown, the choice of dummy opponents and the scene where Supergirl takes Wonder Woman for a trip past the Sun so the audience can admire Wondy’s butt… and it’s frankly disheartening.

It’s not so much the bare arms but rather the shift in priorities in the to make her costume to highlight her boobs, trying to make her bright and cheery (contrary to the setting) and use Wonder Woman to supplement the T&A content.

Creepy Marketing Guy’s fingerprints are all over this one.
